(in)effective parenting

Can't hate for attempting to make a pile

Things that Peanut may or may not have done when I passed out on her bedroom floor in a sore throat stupor - numerous times - in the past two weeks*:

a. Pulled half of her wipes out of the wipe canister.
b. Screamed at "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" while reading the aforementioned book to herself.
c. Slapped my face over and over while shouting "MAMAMAMAMA!"
d. Pulled all the contents out of a dirty diaper.
e. Threw her wooden stacking ring toy directly at my funny bone (a big THANKS to you sustainable green "friendly" toys).
f. Dumped out a carton of 300 cotton swabs.
g. Escaped her room, army crawled into my room and dumped out a box of tampons.
h. Screamed some more at "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

*Over two weeks of a sore throat! TWO WEEKS! All Lortab did was make me supposedly watch - with commentary - an episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" that I remember nothing about.

YUCK!!! Well, at least Peanut's having fun, right? Just kidding. I'm so sorry, Amelia. Feel better soon!

Reason #8,972 I'm glad I was sick and miserable when my kids were old enough to take care of themselves a bit. ("You're hungry? Go away and find something in the pantry while I fall down.")

I didn't realize your daughter was old enough to wreak that kind of havoc. It only gets worse from here.

I had a really bad sore throat problem a long while ago. It lasted longer than two weeks for me. The thing that finally got rid of it was gargling Listerine. That stuff will kill anything.

Okay, that might just be the cutest picture of peanut ever!
I'm so glad that Lucy has taught her so much after only one day at our house. There is much more of that mess making to come!

Sad day Amelia! I agree with Camille, Listerine has worked wonders for me before. The best medicine to numb a sore throat? Cepacol. My doc gave it to me when I had a pretty bad infection, and it was amazing. Has benzocaine (which is similar to novocaine) in it that actually numbs the throat for a couple hours. You can get it at any store, and it is fantastic!

My goodness, Peanut is a different girl since the last time I saw her! It sounds like she's giving you a run for your money. She sure is cute doing it!

She looks so innocent, are you sure it was that sweet little Peanut? Maybe you have some messy invaders, I just don't think that cute girl could do that much damage.

that's a busy girl… like her mom.

Oh Amelia. I hope that you are feeling better. At least Peanut looks more than happy. I think she's just trying to make sure that you are still alive.

Okay - call for back up! You know I pretty much live close enough to throw a tennis ball at my house gal and I would gladly come help you so call me. :) You can pass out on the couch while Peanut and I play...although it's possible she's more literate than I am.

So sorry about the throat.

Awh, it's never fun feeling sick! How could you ever get mad at a face like Peanut's!
....don't answer that question, I'm sure I'll find out soon enough! ;)

So sorry about your sore throat. It will get better eventually. There is a light at the end of the tunnel...
